Chris Barnes is a really interesting guy, you have to admit it. One thing he is not, is lazy. He is constantly releasing something new with his band. 14 studio albums in 20 years are not a small thing. Among them a series of bad albums, some cover albums with no reason of existing and where no one expected it, they released within 10 months two of their best albums of their career. “Undead” and “Unborn” was an apocalypse, the best albums probably since “True Carnage” of 2001.

But “Crypt Of The Devil” is not as good as its predecessors. There are a few good songs, such as “Open Coffin Orgy”, “Break The Cross In Half”, “Stab” and “The Night Bleeds” but nothing interesting after that. Strange thing about this album is that it was NOT recorded from the members of SFU. Seriously, nothing. Steve Swanson, Jeff Hughell and Marco Pitruzzella didn’t participate at all although they are still considered the main members of SFU. It was recorded from the members of Cannabis Corpse (awesome name). Brandon Ellis in guitars, Josh “Hallhammer” Hall in drums and his brother Phil Hall in guitars and bass guitars (also in Iron Reagan and Municipal Waste). Phil also composed the entire music of this album. The lyrics of course come from the sick mind of Chris Barnes.

The point is that “Crypt Of The Devil” is another mediocre Six Feet Under album. And unfortunately, albums like this are more than their good ones…
