Winning teams never change. That saying is well known and if anything the first collaboration between Bob Katsionis and Elina Englezou back in 2020 was a quite successful attempt. The then rock opera Goditha had received excellent reviews. This year, four years later, the duo strikes again with another concept album.

This time our theme is pirate. No, you won’t hear an album with Runing Wild music and lots of singers. Musically moving, the album has a purely commercial sound that I could place on the borders of European power metal. However, even in its harshest moments the vocals are the driving force. As a result I can say that this album could well be listened to by people who have little to do with hard music. After all we are talking about an opera right?

Bob does it all and it all makes sense. Why not? The man is a proven master craftsman. Here he doesn’t have to play crazy solos and stuff, which we easily know he can do, but he and his partner create a harmonious result that has nothing to envy from similar efforts abroad.

Once again we meet well-known singers of our scene with names like Yannis Papanikolaou, Marios Karanastasis and Iliana Tsakiraki to name a few. They and many others make up the “cast” of this opera.

Now I must say that I am not the biggest fan of this style. Yes, I am one of those who, for example, don’t tear their clothes for Sammet’s work. On the other hand, I can’t say that I didn’t find some of the compositions on the album excellent. I mention “Northern Winds” and “Get The Pistol”, especially the latter is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time!

So, if I who am not much into the genre, found this work very good I am sure that a listener of the genre will appreciate it much more. “Ghosts” is released in various packages, including vinyl. I’m just saying… Maybe in another country we would have the pleasure of enjoying such a work on a theatre stage. Who knows.
