There is no Eonian Records release that has disappointed me. Granted, not all of the label’s albums are always spectacular, but they’ve never released anything that was bad or even below our expectations. Now you might say, that it’s only reasonable since the vast majority of their releases are about obscure 80s bands that were -for the most part- active on the Sunset Strip and for some reason either went unnoticed or never got to release their songs properly. Lypswitch is no exception. They may have started in Orlando but moved to the Sunset Strip in 1988 to pursue their dream too. Let’s not forget that this was a time and a place where Guns N’ Roses reigned supreme with their iconic “Appetite for destruction” and thus the Los Angeles scene was showing a mutation from a glam sound to a more sleaze/hair orientation.

17 songs (three of which are completely new) make up the tracklist of “World of sin” and I have to emphasize and stress in the most emphatic way that all fans of Love/Hate, Bang Tango and Dangerous Toys (just to name a few) will be particularly happy with what they will hear from Lypswitch as it will remind them of other times when hard rock was in the ascendant. I don’t need to emphasize that the band’s performance is flawless and the whole attitude is ideal while of course the compositions stand out due to a street aesthetic and a “take no prisoners” approach that is so lacking in modern hard rock bands. Other times, other influences, someone will say…

Not only do I highly recommend “World of sin” but I would honestly suggest Lypswitch to think about playing some shows again even for nostalgic reasons. Besides, the…Sunset Strip pillars are still in place for the traditional flyer sticking! What do you think?

Highlight: Just a mere look at the cover sleeve gives you a clear indication of what you are about to receive with “World of sin”.
