The music industry is full of stories of bands that for one reason or another couldn’t achieve commercial success or recognition. The bad thing –which is not that rare- is that some of them rightfully deserved it…in fact, some were destined for glory but fate had other plans for them. In this latter category falls Jones Street; a band that recorded in the first half of the 90s some really brilliant songs but the overall fluid situation in the music industry with the appearance of the grunge sound didn’t give the band a fighting chance.

Jones Street came from the…Mecca of the hard rock sound: Los Angeles! They managed to have Vince Neil and Steve Stevens as producers in some of their songs and the final result was sensational. Skid Row’s “take no prisoners” attitude combined with a Guns N’ Roses sonic approach and a tendency towards the Motley Crue school of melody and the steady rhythm of AC/DC is a perfect description of Jones Street’s style…at least, from my perspective. But mark my words: Jones Street was not a cheap copycat band but a bunch of really talented musician that if they had released those songs a few years earlier things would definitely be different for them.

Eonian Records, following the tradition of releasing great hard rock stuff, has come up with yet another excellent offering as the material here is top notch, sound and quality wise. Even the closing demo track “On The Edge” sounds perfectly clear. “Out of the Gutter” is a must-have album for every single hard rocker around the world.

Highlight: Just a mere glimpse on the cover sleeve is sufficient enough to let you know what kind of music Jones Street plays…and that’s a good thing!
