Bassist T.M. Stevens passed away on Sunday, March 10 at the age of 72, having suffered from dementia for the past few years.

Timothy Max Roosevelt Stevens, was born in New York City on October 26th, 1951. He Stevens grew up in a musically rich environment that laid the foundation for his illustrious career.

Stevens’ musical journey began at a young age, inspired by the sounds of funk, jazz, rock and blues. With a deep passion for the bass, he began his pursuit to master the instrument, drawing influence from legendary bassists such as Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke and Bootsy Collins.

Throughout his career, T.M. Stevens has left an indelible mark on the music industry through his unparalleled talent, innovative style and boundless creativity. His dynamic bass lines and infectious grooves have graced the recordings of many iconic artists, spanning a variety of genres and styles. From James Brown and Tina Turner, to Steve Vai and Riot(!), all of his collaborations have showcased his versatility and ability to easily adapt to different musical contexts.

In addition to his prowess as a bassist, T.M. Stevens also emerged as a composer, producer and arranger, contributing to the creation of many well-known hits. His solo albums, including “Out of Control” and “Boom!”, exemplify his unique artistic vision and testify to his lasting impact on the music scene.
