Fourth album for Light the Torch, second under their current name, since they began back in 2012 as Devil You Know, but had to alter their brand name after drummer John Sankey’s departure in 2017.

In any case, the sonic identity of the group hasn’t changed much with time. Francesco Artusato’s (All Shall Perish) playing and Howard Jones’ (Killswitch Engage) singing do create a familiar metalcore cocktail that is hard to resist for fans of the genre and of those two bands specifically.

My only problem is how much of the material lies upon the same recipe being used over and over again, without some element to make it stand out. On the second half of the record, elementary diversity in tempo/style, offered by ‘I Hate Myself’ and ‘Sign your Name’ immediately improves the listening experience and puts forth the idea that the album could have been better. As is, ‘You Will Be the Death of Me’ can’t offer much more than a rapid dose of KSE to someone already looking for it.
