Metallica were among the winners of the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony, which took place on Sunday 4 February in Los Angeles.
Specifically, the band was named the winner in the “Best Metal Performance” category for “72 Seasons”.
Robert Trujillo attended the ceremony to accept the award, and said: “This is like family. When you’re making an album like this you’re jamming, you’re collaborating; the spirit of 72 Seasons which is your youth and creating music together. Keep those instruments in your hands. Let’s keep the youth making music and keeping the dream alive!”
It should be noted that this is the ninth time Metallica has won a Grammy Award after winning in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2009. Most of them were in the same category, namely “Best Metal Performance”, while one was for “Best Hard Rock Performance” (“Whiskey In The Jar”-2000) and one was for “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” (“St.Anger” – 2004).
