When a legendary band is no longer in existence and there is no new music from them, what is left to satisfy the fans? Re-releases, best of compilations, old live recordings, but also… box sets. I personally have a soft spot for the last two and this release combines them perfectly!

This box contains five live performances of the legends of hard music over a period of 24 years, a very good sample of the whole Motörhead career if we leave out their very early and late years. The first, double CD, is about Motörhead’s appearance in Madrid on June 1, 1995, the second, also a double CD, is about the one in Norwich on October 18, 1998, and the third, the one in Malmo, Sweden on November 17, 2000. In the remaining two CDs, single ones, we go back to 1984 and the 29th of December where we find the show in Heilbronn in East Germany at the time, while in the fifth, we get a good glimpse of the appearance at the Download Festival in Donington on the 13th of August 2008.

These recordings, apart from giving a very good view of the always thunderous Motörhead live shows, have undergone a very good sound treatment, which makes the acquisition of this box set very attractive.

“The Lost Tapes / The Collections Volumes 1-5” is not (at least for the moment) released on a vinyl box set edition, but vinyls have already been released individually.
This release, as you can understand, is mainly aimed at the hard core of Motörhead fans but I would recommend it to even more.
