Joey Jordison

Former Slipknot, Murderdolls, Scar The Martyr, Vimic and Sinsaenum drummer, Joey Jordison, passed away in his sleep on July 26.

The news was shared by his family: Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow.

“To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.

“The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time.

“The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”

The news traveled across the globe and caused reactions from fans and musicians, who filled the social media with messages of sadness and mourning for Joey…

Joey joined Slipknot very early when they were still called “The Pale Ones” and recorded with them the four albums “Slipknot”, “Iowa”, “Vol.3 (The Subliminal Verses)”, and “All Hope Is Gone”.

While already a member of the band, he formed Murderdolls on Wednesday 13 in 2002, with which he released two albums, “Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls” and “Women And Children Last”.

He was fired from Slipknot in 2013 and formed Scar The Martyr, with whom he released the self-titled album the same year. The group disbanded three years later.

Shortly afterwards he formed Sinsaenum with which he released two albums and three EPs.

In his long career he worked with Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, while as a drummer he was called several times to play as a replacement even at the last minute, as with Metallica in the 2004 Download Festival, where Lars Ulrich fell ill and could not play and Joey replaced him for 8 of the 13 songs on the set with the band calling him “Hero of the Day”.

In August 2010, Rhythm magazine named him “Best Drummer of the last 25 years”.
