Greeks The BitterSweet released a new music video from their third full length album, “September”. It was directed Directed by Dionysis Koutsis, edited by Patroklos Skafidas with Irida Papoutsi and Chrysa Kavraki fromt the Greek famous show GNTM (Greece’s next top model) starring.
“Numbers talks about fighting against the addiction to social media, view, likes, the scourge that’s been hunting the modern human, the angst and the anticipation of success and self-accomplishment. It’s also about the lust for numbers. It’s more self- and self-sarcastic. Being obsessed with numbers has been in my DNA since my childhood. I am thinking numbers. I breath numbers. I function with numbers”, says band leader Nicholas Alavanos.
BIO
The BitterSweet were formed in 2007 by Nicholas Alavanos who is the band’s lyricist and composer. After various member changes, the band stabilized its line-up in 2019.
In July 2012, they released their debut album “Dancing In The Zoo” (distribution MINOS – EMI). The album was welcomed with warm reviews from the music press. It climbed the charts and received radio airplays. It was also played on MTV Greece.
In November 2018 they released their new single – video clip “I Like Walking”, the forerunner of their second album “The Age Of New Delirium” (Ikaros Records). The album went online on 18th Dec. 2018. It was released on vinyl record on 12 June 2019.
The album reached the top spots on lists of Indie Rock Greek Websites and has been airplayed by Alpha Radio 98.9, Pepper 96.6, Red 105.5, Ng Radio and online radio stations in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patra. The Bittersweet are currently recording their third lp “September” in Studio 222.
Based on British psychedelia and influenced by 60’s pop, 70’s prog and 90’s indie, The BitterSweet’s musical creations unfold a bipolar between the adrenaline of rock and roll and pop songwriting.
The BitterSweet’s axis is based on the blend of different musical styles. Their driving force their love of 20th century pop-rock music and its evolution through the years.
They have participated in major festivals and countless concerts throughout Greece, culminating in the opening of the Ejekt Festival in 2013, their participation in the Arda Festival in 2014, the Rematia Festival in 2015, the European Music Day Festival in 2016 and the Festival of Rematia Halandri in 2019. A set of concerts to promote “September” is planned according to the recent covid restrictions and limitations.
