On August 20, the day of his birthday, a bust of Phil Lynott was erected in his hometown of West Bromwich, where he lived for a short time before his family moved to Dublin, Ireland.
The statue was made by sculptor Luke Perry and placed in Sandwell Market with a metal plaque that reads “Phil Lynott. Son of West Bromwich. He was born in this city. August 20, 1949 “.
The erection of the statue was delayed for two years due to the pandemic, while the unveiling ceremony was broadcast via livestream.
